Optimal Thresholds for Coverage and Rate in FFR Schemes for Planned Cellular Networks

چکیده
Fractional frequency reuse (FFR) is an inter-cell interference coordination scheme that is being actively researched for emerging wireless cellular networks. In this work, we consider hexagonal tessellation based planned FFR deployments, and derive expressions for the coverage probability and normalized average rate for the downlink. In particular, given reuse 1 3 (FR3 ) and reuse 1 (FR1) regions, and a Signal-to-Interference-plus-noise-Ratio (SINR) threshold Sth which decides the user assignment to either the FR1 or FR3 regions, we theoretically show that: (i) The optimal choice of Sth which maximizes the coverage probability is Sth = T , where T is the required target SINR (for ensuring coverage), and (ii) The optimal choice of Sth which maximizes the normalized average rate is given by the expression Sth = max(T, T ), where T ′ is a function of the path loss exponent and the fade parameters. For the optimal choice of Sth, we show that FFR gives a higher rate than FR1 and a better coverage probability than FR3. The impact of frequency correlation over the sub-bands allocated to the FR1 and FR3 regions is analysed, and it is shown that correlation decreases the average rate of the FFR network. Numerical results are provided, and these match with the analytical results.

Currently, cellular networks are one of the essential communication methods for people. Providing proper coverage for the users and also offering high-quality services to them are two of the most important issues of concern in cellular networks. The fifth-generation cellular communication networks can provide higher data transmission rates, which lead to a higher quality of service but this hig...

—We consider adaptive-rate multicasting of video streams compressed by using Scalable Video Coding (SVC) over cellular wireless networks. Base station nodes coordinate the scheduling of their downlink transmissions to mitigate intercell interference; as well as, at times, to direct the multicast transmission of the same video streams to a group of clients, as implemented in a Multicast-Broadca...

Modern day cellular networks are driven by the need to provide ubiquitous connectivity with very high spectral efficiency to both indoor and outdoor users, hence the need to deploy small cells over conventional macrocells in a Heterogeneous Network (Hetnet) deployment. To alleviate the resulting inter-cell and cross-tier interference, effective intercell interference coordination (ICIC) schemes...

The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...
متن کاملOfdma-based Networks Capacity Improvement Using Enhanced Fractional Frequency Reuse Scheme
OFDMA as a broadband technology is intended to offer high data rate services. In cellular networks, a Frequency Reuse (FR) principle has been used to maximize the Signal to Noise-plus-Interference Ratio (SINR), which in turn allows high data rates and spectral efficiency to be achieved. Earlier FR schemes used in 2G and 3G networks are known as Integer Frequency Reuse (IFR) schemes, and were ab...
